Snowy Day

It was a dark cloudy morning, fresh snow cover the ground. The teen yawned as she wandered from her house. She rubbed her eyes then gazing at the horizon, knowing it may be one of the last times she may see the rising sun from that point. Soon she would head off to one of the air temples to presume her Air Bending training.

Avani walked past the houses and down to the shore line. She seated her self in a pile of the fresh snow. The water bender spread out her arms and legs and moved them about making a snow angel. After some snow got into her warm clothing, she stopped and shook it out. There she lay, so quietly, staring up at the color changing sky. Clouds drifted past the rising golden sun. Her blue eyes lit up with delight, a smile spread across her face. Placing her arms behind her head and sure did make her self comfortable.

Water slapped the shore as a penguin waddled over to her and sat down.

"Hey Makoto.",Avani patted him on the head.

The penguin squeaked and flapped his flippers.

"Your up early, eh kiddo?"a voice said.

Avani looked up, a man stood over her, gazing down at her and her penguin friend.

"Oh, hey dad."greeted Avani,"I`m just getting in one last sunrise before I have to go..."

Her father knelt down next to her and ruffled up her hair, he nodded,"I understand, you`re doing a very important thing."

"Yeah yeah ... I know, hey when am I leaving?"

"Around mid day, so I suggest you go and pack your things."

Avani had said her good byes to her friends and family. It`d probably be awhile before she saw them again. Her family stood by the shore, as she got ready to board the boat.

Her eyes gazed up, the clouds had cleared. She smirked, maybe it could be a good day after all. Makoto stood next to her.

"Time to go ..."stated her father as he got into the boat, he was to see that she got to her destination safely.

One last hug from her mother, she turned to go. Avani`s younger brother ran to her and latched onto her leg.

"Dont go..."he whinned.

"Hey, I`ll be back."

He glared at her,"Pwomise?"

Avani couldnt help but chuckle at his angered expression.
"Yeah, I promise."

He let go, and squeezed Makoto who attempted to squirm free. The small boy released the penguin and went back to his mother, waving all the way. Avani got onto the boat, and they headed off.

Ishimaru was sitting on top of his Flying Bison Shogun's back, keeping his eye out for signs of the North Pole. The monks back at the Southern Air Temple had sent him to escort the new Avatar to their temple, seeing as he was one of the best they had. However, he felt that there was an alternative reason to it.

"Probably just trying to get me away so I don't think of mother" he whispered to himself. It was about mid-day, and by the way it looked the two of them were making great time.

It wouldn't take long before the walls of the Northern Water Tribe's city began to peak over the horizon. Pulling on the reigns, Shogun began to descend down towards the water and moving at a slower pace. Looking over the water he saw a small boat with a girl and penguin in it. Pulling up to it, he respectfully bowed to the girl.

"Excuse me, but would you happen to know if the Avatar has left the city yet. The monks at the Southern Air Temple have sent me to escort her to the temple."

Avani raised her hand a bit as she nodded her head. She stared at the huge beast.

"Uh ... that would be ..."she stated, quite distracted by the bison,"Oh ... thats me."

[Pikachu]

Ishimaru raised his eyebrow a bit, trying to figure out why she seem so distracted. Following her gaze, he noticed she was staring at the bison. Shogun was slightly panting to keep warm, as she wasn't use to this kind of weather.

"Well then, guess you better dock that boat and get on, or do you prefer riding in your boat?"

Avani quickly broke her gaze and looked back up at the airbender.

"I`ve always wanted to fly on a bison."she smiled,"Its a good thing you caught me before I got too far out, it wont take me very long to get the boat back..."

Avani scooted to the middle of the boat, and stood.

"Since I can see the shore, I could hop on your Bison and I could just guide it back from here."

[Pikachu]

Ishimaru shrugged. He didn't care what she chose. She was the Avatar, who was he to question her wishes. Scooting over to the edge of the sadle, he extended an arm out to her.

"Alright then, grab my hand and get on."

She took ahold of his hand and got onto the bison. Makoto followed by latching onto her long warm clothing with his mouth. Once on Avani wandered to the side of the saddle. She took a stance, braught her hands in so her finger tips touched. On one foot she stepped backwards, bringing her hands out directly in front of her. Curving her hands in a bit, she stopped, the water moved. In one quick motion, she put her foot down and braught her hands up on either side, then forced them in and forwards, causing the water to carry the boat back to the shore. It all happend fairly quickly, it would have went faster if she didnt have to work around the bison.

"Alrighty then, are we ready to go?"she asked as she watched the boat disappear out of site, as it headed back to the Tribe. She sat down and waited for his answer.

Watching her perform her bending, Ishimaru was impressed. Then again, she was the Avatar, so that should be expected. Getting himself situated to control Shogun, he turned his head back.

"Were good. Prepare to brace yourself. Yip Yip."

Shogun headed into the air slowly, and once reached peak height started heading south. Looking at the sun, Ishimaru realized they wouldn't reach the Southern Temple before dark. That would mean they would have to go the Northern One and stay there for the night before they started south. He turned Shogun in the right direction, and soon the North Pole was out of sight.

Hangin out with his mate had been good but Garun was ready to go home. He had already said good bye to his friend and he was now just waiting on the waters edge for his dads boat. "Shouldn't be long now" He said to himself while he twirled the water with his finger.
