that trap won't be useful now, but might as well set it.

"Alright then, let's see what I got to respond with."
Will drew out his five cards for his hand, and nodded at the relatively nice hand. He then drew the card for his turn. It was a nice one, but not handy at the moment. However, he it might prove useful in a few moments.
"Alright then, let's get this show on the roll. First off, I summon Toon Gemini Elf to the field. Good thing not all toons need Toon World to work."
With that, a pair of toonified elves appeared on the field, and flirtfully sent a kiss towards Kai. They then settled down on their spot, and awaited for Will's next move. However, he wanted to test the waters at the moment, and so he ended his turn.

1900 ATK? nothing I can't defend against, but if he plays toon world...

Awesome Kai thought. He had just drawn the card which could protect him from toon world.
"I set 1 card face-down" A hologram image of a card appeared face-down.
"And I'll set another monster face-down too."
Kai ended his turn, waiting for will to make an attack. if he attacks his monsters, he's in for it.
Field: 2 face-down monsters
2 face-down spell and trap cards
Hand: 3 cards
grave: nothing
life points: 4000

Will drew his next card and placed it in his hand. It wasn't anything he was going to use right now, but it would be helpful later. He was still wanting to play it safe at the moment, not wanting to risk everything in one shot. But he was going to need more than just Toon Gemini Elf on the field.
"Alright then, let's fill my field up a little bit more with this. First I'm going to summon Toon Goblin Attack Force, and I'll also have one card face down on the field."
The holograms popped up, with the toonified Goblins all showing off their 'muscles' to get their point across. Still, they couldn't attack that turn, so they all just settled down for now. A card appeared face down behind them.
"Now then, let's see if I can get some idea what your field is. Toon Gemini Elf, attack the monster he summoned on his first turn."

the card flipped up and a hologram of a pink blob showed up, and got attacked... but not destroyed.
"you attacked my marshmallon (ATK: 300/DEF: 500). It can't be destroyed in battle, and when it's attacked while face-down, the player who attacked it looses 1000 Life Points."
The hologram of marshmallon leaped up, opened its mouth and bit down on Will, taking 1000 Life Points with it.

"Alright, nothing to worry about at the moment." Will replied as he rubbed his arm. Even if it was a hologram, it still felt a bit weird being bit by a giant fluff ball. Toon Gemini Elf looked at him sadly for a moment before sulking.
"Anyway, I believe that will be all for now. It's your turn Kai."

Alicia smiled as Will attacked Marshamallon. It was one of Kai's best defense monsters. She should know, after all, she was the one who gave it to Kai since a player could only have 1 in their deck, and she had 2.

wow, this is a lucky hand Kai thought as he looked at the card he drew. It was a key part of his Defense Deck.
"I'll set a card face-down" Kai said as he set the card he just drew. "And I end my turn."

"Alright then."
Will drew his card, and then took a look at the battle field. There were two cards face down on the field, a monster card, and Marshmallon. His hand didn't have much in the way of destroying cards. He hate not knowing how the field looked, so he decided to risk some damage.
"Alright then. Toon Gemini Elf, attack his other face down card."

((I have 3 face-down cards. I set another one last turn))
the card flips up to show a warrior with a huge shield. Toon gemini elf's atk just bounced off Big Gardna's Shield.
"You attacked Big shield Gardna. It has 2600 DEF, so you lose 700 Life Points"
Big Shield Gardna suddenly stands up, and the horizontal card underneath disappears.
but then it switches to ATK mode once it's attacked Kai added silently.

"Okay, that makes my life points at 2300 then. A bit lower than I'm comfortable with, but nothing I can't deal with. Of course, now that your Big Shield is in attack mode, he's a sitting duck for Toon Goblin Attack Force. Boys, you know the drill."
With that all the goblins pulled up their equipment and began to rush right at Gardna. Will knew that after their attack they would be forced into defense position, were they would be sitting ducks. But Kai seemed to run a defenisve deck, so he might not attack. Besides, he had a backup plan just in case.

If you think, I haven't thought of this, you're wrong. Kai thought smugly. This is why he set that face-down card in the first turn, even though it wouldn't be helpful then.
"I activate my face-down card (the one I set on the first turn), Shift."
The card flips up to reveal Shift.
"This card activates whenever one of my monsters is targeted by a magic or trap card, or is the target of an attack. I can switch the target to another one of my monsters. And since Marshmallon is the only other monster on my side of the field, I'll select it as the new battle target."
A glow covers both Big Shield Gardna and Marshamallon as they switch places.

"Alright, not like I loose anything out of it." Will replied as his attack failed. Marshmallon couldn't be destroyed, but his goblins attack was high enough nothing happened. They went into defensive postion, which in their case meant going to sleep.
"Okay, I'm out of moves to do this turn so back to you."

Kai looked at the card he drew. It wasn't useful right now, so he'll keep it in his hand. He then looked at the field. He could just switch Big Shield Gardna to Defense Mode,
but then it'll switch to attack mode once attacked Kai thought. Instead he took Total Defense Shogun.
"I sacrifice my Big Shield Gardna" Kai said as Big Shield Gardna disappears, "to summon Total Defense Shogun (ATK: 1550/DEF: 2500)."
A warrior with huge swords appears.
"Total Defense Shogun's monster effect, activate. When this card is summoned, it switches to Defense Position."
Total Defense Shogun crouches down in Defense, as a horizontal card appears underneath.
"Total Defense Shogun can also attack while in Defense mode. Total Defense Shogun, attack Toon Goblin Attack Force."
