Edward stand at around 4'11, unless he is wearing his boots in which case he stands at around five foot 5'2. He has long blonde hair that reaches just above his shoulder blades when he doesn't have it in his usual braided style. His bangs hang low on his face reaching just slightly below his chin as they are parted to opposite sides, he also has Golden eyes. Edward’s most distinguishing feature is his auto-mail, left leg and right arm, it is these mechanical parts that got him the title of “Fullmetal”. Edward more often than not wears a pair of white gloves, making it difficult for people to see that he has an auto-mail arm.

He is normally seen wearing his red hooded coat, it has a split on the back forming a two tailed style. On the back of the jacket in black, lies an embedded image of the Flamel cross, a symbol he inherited from his old alchemy teacher Izumi Cutis. Beneath his red coat, Edward wears a black jacket which is held together by a metal clip around the collar region, leaving it hanging open freely from the clip down. Under his jacket, Edward wears a black tank top. He wears a pair of simple shiny black pants that sit at his waist as they are held up by a thick brown belt. . Attached to the right side of his belt loop is the chain to his State Alchemist Pocket watch, which is always kept safe. His black boots are elevated somewhat to give him more height (an effort which does not work so well) he does not have any laces, and opening of the boots is in a V shape at the front. The soles of Edward’s shoes are red in colour.

Personality:

Edward can very easily be described as a somewhat idealistic young boy, perhaps naively so. Though Edward has seen much, more than many every can or will, he still finds the brutality some people show to be somewhat frightening. Wars, torture, all things like that tend to throw him into a somewhat depressed state during which he tends to resort to violence more readily. Upon saying this though Edward has never killed, the idea of doing such turns his stomach. To him there is always an alternative to killing, even though in the real world this dose not hold true it is one law Edward has so far broken, he and his brother have accomplished a great deal without ever taking a life.

Edward can be seen as an outwardly cynical jerk, he shouts at others and tends to over react to most anything, especially someone commenting on his height. When such an event arises Edward has a tendency to go into a rather comical fit of rage, often spouting a rather random chain of words. He also has a tendency to act somewhat violently during such a time, whilst he dose indeed hurt others the damage is very rarely permanent. Rarely being the key word to that statement.

Despite what Ed may appear he is a highly intelligent and compassionate individual, he cares for anyone who needs it and deserves it and is happy to throw down his life for those he loves. Through the years he has spent as a state alchemist he has earned the title of "hero of the people", and indeed it is one that fits the young blond well. Though he is a dog of the military he is firstly an alchemist, and in his mind alchemists ‘be thou for the people’.

History:

Edward was born in a small town named Risembool, where he lived with his younger brother, Alphonse and his mother Trisha Elric, Edward’s father left them when he was still very young and he has very little memory of him. Edward and his brother learned alchemy from the books that their father had left behind and became quite accomplished at it, showing off their works to their mother who never failed to praise them. However their mother fell ill and unfortunately died apparently of a sickness that she had been dealing with for some time, but she had never told anyone. Pinako Rockbell decided to look after the boys, treating them as if they were her own grandchildren. During that time, the brothers concentrated on studying alchemy in hopes of bringing their mother back to life and were able to train with a skilled alchemist named Izumi Curtis. When they returned home from their training, they proceeded to try the taboo art of Human transmutation but failed costing Edward his left leg, and Alphonse his entire body. Edward performed a second transmutation, sacrificing his own right arm to bind Alphonse's soul to a nearby suit of armour.

It was a short while after this that Edward decided to have himself fitted with auto-mail in order to travel to Central to meet with Roy Mustang in order to become a state alchemist, and return Alphonse to his body. Edward did indeed become a state alchemist and he and his brother started searching for the legendary ‘Philosopher’s stone’ a stone that would allow an alchemist to bypass all the laws of equivalent exchange, and get something for nothing, a stone that Edward and Alphonse intended to use to get their bodies back to the way they had been before.
