Name: Theo Downard
Age: 13
Gender: Male
Dorm Slifer Red
Description: Theo is about Kai's height, give or take an inch or two. He's a little thin, despite his eating habits. His hair is black and slightly curly. His skin is kinda dark, obviously, because of his heritage. When not wearing his school uniform, a red blazer, Theo wears baggy trousers, a plain, white t-shirt and a blue Lakers jersey over it. His black sneakers are barely visible underneath his trousers. He, like Kai, also wears a hat, but his is black, and he usually wears it sideways.
Personality: Theo is about as happy, carefree and optimistic as they get. Sure, he gets sad, angry, scared, etc. every now and then (who doesn't?), but he hides it by making jokes and keeping up his carefree attitude. He can usually speak his mind, but every now and then comes something too personal to talk about. Theo is really friendly, and can usually make friends, but one could notice that his friends are usually not-so-popular kids. Theo has a soft spot for those kinds of kids because of his history, so that's why his monsters are all Level 3 or lower. Theo's smarts are a bit below average, but he has loyalty, honesty, and kindness to rival Kai's.
History: Theo is an African-American living in Pennsylvania. His family was quite poor, almost living on the streets. He lived in a not-too-good neighborhood, and went to a not-too-good school. He was often bullied at school, which is why he has a soft spot for unpopular kids. Back then, he hadn't developed his sense of carefreeness yet. Instead, he was sad and lonely. Then one day, something changed his life. He couldn't remember anymore what it was, but he suddenly felt happier and more carefree. Bullies didn't pick on him as much, and he had more friends. All Theo knew about that day was that he had recently gotten his first yu-gi-oh cards. Granted, they were weak cards, but he treasured them because they were his first, and that they reminded him of his childhood. He even still keeps them in his deck.
Since his life was now better, he grew happier and eventually developed his child-like attitude today. He breezed through elementary school (his grades still hadn't improved) and middle school. Around middle school, the yu-gi-oh card game grew popular where Theo lived and surprisingly to most people, he won quite a lot of duels with his deck. Theo decided he wanted to go to Duel Academy, and his parents were behind him all the way (seeing as how it was a quite well-known school). He only made it to Slifer Red, but Theo was down with that. He was sure he'd make friends whatever dorm he was in, like Kai, his roommate.
Spirit Partner: Mataza the Zapper is Theo's Spirit Monster. It fits his personality too; someone who's strong for others, and loyalty never wavers. Like Kai, Theo can freely talk with his Spirit Partner.
