Mai slid herself off the tree, but before she fell her arms gripped the tree as she swung herself off. She landed in an almost super hero like pose, both hands on her hips as she gazed up at the sky. It made her feel goofy and laughed when she glanced at her shadow. The future events made her think a bit, she could be a chuunin soon. It would but her one step closer to being a jounin, then the future hokage of the leaf village. Surprisingly her motives to become the hokage were once driven by the determination to bring honor back to the Uchiha name. In the past, some bad things had been happing with the clan, mass murder and such. Being one of the few Uchiha, she felt it was her duty to bring the good name back to her infamous clan. Now her motives were strickly because she wanted to be reconized as a powerful ninja.
There werent too many genin this time around, so there was a good chance she would fight one of her team mates. If she ever hurt Garun, or even Hino, she may never forgive herself. Even though as normal genin they had just as much skill as she, Mai truly did have the upper hand. The most powerful of the demons dwelled in her. Sometimes the fox would speak with her, telling her how pathetic she was. It had never taken her over before, occasionally came close, but never did any serious damage. One thing kept running through her mind, "Dont make me fight Garun ... dont make me fight him.. I dont want to lose, but I dont want to lose a friend either..." Mai didnt have to worry, for she knew she would never have the heart to kill him.
"After we`re done training, we should hit the hot springs. I havent been there in awhile, plus it would be a good time to relax before we get into any serious hardcore training."Mai told Garun looking back at him, she realized with all of that thinking she had forgotten to say something, "Well what should we practice first?"

Mai tilted her head and gazed off to the side for a brief moment. "Maybe we should work on Chakra control? You kinda seem to have a little trouble climbing a tree, and I need to work on my chakra control too."

"Good Idea" Garun said before running through the different ways he knew of how to train in chakra control. "Are we going to be doing the tree climbing method and all that or is there another method??" Garun asked her

"Ooh I have the perfect idea! Lets go to the springs now, Ill work on my stuff and you can walk on the water."Mai said, seeming a little excited that she had an idea, "I`ve already got chakra control down, so I can help you with yours."

"Ok then lets go" Garun said turning in the direction of the springs. "I'll race you, ready, set GO!" Garun shouted before running off. Once halfway down the road he began jumping from building to building.

Mai quickly followed, but rather than jumpping she would appear then disappear. She caught up, and kept up with him so they could tie.

Garun landed by the springs before turning to see Mai land the same time. "Looks like a tie to me" He said before putting on a serious face. "Its time for me to train though" He said as he stepped up to the springs. He then closed his eyes and put is hands together as he could then concentrate on sending the chakra to his feet.

"While your working on that, Im going to run home real quick."Mai told him,"I`ll be back in a minute."
The Uchiha bolted off leaving him alone for awhile. She came back out of the hot springs building in her bathing suit. The Four Season Seal on her stomach was visible as she jumped into the water. Once in she sat back and relaxed, hoping she didnt disturb Garun`s training.

As Garun was concentrating the chakra to his feet, a figure slowly walked up behind him. His hand slowly reached for Garun's shoulder, clamping down on it.
"How's it going Garun? I hope I'm not interupting anything." Hojo's usual optimistic toned voice said.
"Do you happen to know where the rest of the team is? I've gotten ahold of a mission for us to do and I"m sure that you all are rearing to go. It's just an escort mission, nothing too hard."

Mai clawed her way out of the water, then sprawled out on the ground. She gasped for air, but then began to laugh. "Ha, I didnt think I could hold my breath for that long!"
When she saw Hojo she smiled.
"Hiya Hojo sensei! We have a mission or something?"

"Yes we have an escort mission or something like that" Garun said to Mai as he opened his eyes. "Last time I seen Hino he was with you in the forest while Mai and I trained." Garun said turning to Hojo.

"Byakugan boy? Pfft he would be crazy if he stayed out too late."Mai had a hair tie around her wrist, then used it to put her hair back into a pony tail. She found a towel and dried herself off. She threw it over her shoulder, but held onto one end as she sat back down on the edge of the water and dangled her feet in the hot water. "An Escort mission? That shouldnt be too hard, especially between the four of us."

"Watch it Mai. We don't call teammates "Byakugan boy." Anyways, he probably went home, so I sent someone to fetch him and bring him here. I'll tell you more about the specifics of the mission once he gets here."
While he waited Hojo leaned up against a post and got comfortable. While he was glad that these two thought the mission would be easy, he had a nagging suspicion that there might be more to it than meets the eye. The girl they'd be escorting was a complete and total mystery, except for her name. And because of that name he had heard rumors that the Mist Village was after her, but since there was nothing definant about it the council had decided to keep it a mission low ranked enough for his team to do.
