After the mission, the doctors were found to have been returned safe and sound to the Leaf Village. Akane delivered the report, but didn't notify the Council of Mai's situation. She made sure to put Masaaki on the report, even if it confused them. Better that they hold off on revealing Mai's situation till after dealing with her father.
For now, Akane's mother was being held at the Leaf Village hospital, and the room she was in was made with the knowledge of the need for cold. The doctors, even after all they had been through, continued to work on her. Eventually they hoped to help her regain conciousness, and test whether or not Heikichi's "broken heart" hypothesis was correct.
Akane was now standing in front of the entrance to the Uchiha Compound, waiting for Mai to catch up. They were going to confront her father together, just like they had confronted Akane's. Of course, at the moment Akane wished they were fighting her father again. It would be a lot easier than facing Mai's father in this situation.

Mai quickly caught up, she was so excited to see her father but she had to admit that she was afraid of the wraith of what was to come. She quickly took her place next to Akane, but she was sure to put her mask over her face. She wanted to make it a surprise.
"Ready?" She asked Akane before reaching for the door knob. Mai pretty much just strolled right into the large building and was met by a surprised Daisuke.
"Akane, what a wonderful surprise. Who if your friend?" the Uchiha asked his late daughters friend.
Mai quickly took the mask off and tossed it to the side. Daisuke stared at her for the longest time, tears forming in his eyes. Mai looked just like his father, only she was a girl and Sasuke was a male obviously. Mai ran and hugged him tightly, tears forming in her eyes too.
"M..mmmaaaiii...." He sobbed, "Everything thinks your .... dead. Why didnt you come home? We missed you so so much... I was heart broken."
Mai looked down, she felt guilty.
"I couldnt reveal myself... Im still not supposed to be revealed yet. Im sorry daddy...."
Daisuke tightened his grip on his daughter, he didnt want to let her go. "Dont be... as long as your home safe." Mai looked back at Akane, Daisuke cleared his throat and stood up, releasing Mai from his hug of death.

Akane watched as Daisuke embraced Mai, reminded of what had just happened earlier with her own father. She was jealous of Mai at the moment, having such a loving family and all. But at the same time, Akane knew that she would be able to get by with having friends like Mai. She still felt guilty about her time as an Akatsuki trainee, but she was working on getting past that.
However, when she heard Mai mention something about not being revealed, it made Akane a bit suspicious.
"Wait, what do you mean 'not supposed to be revealed yet'? Is there something you're not telling us Mai?"

Mai crossed her arms and gave Akane a funny look. Most of the akatsuki thought she was dead, and the longer she was hidden for the more dead it made her look.
"The akatsuki thinks Im dead remember? Master Yuuto told me to keep myself very low key until im really needed."

"No offense Mai, but I'm not sure if that really would work. Remember, I was with them for a month or so. Ishimaru knows his medical stuff, and he's a bit of a paranoid too. I wouldn't be surprise if they think you're alive, or at least him. Still, it would have been nice to alert some of us you weren't dead." Akane replied, trying to be scolding but failing. She just couldn't do it in this situation.

"yeah yeah I know, but it was worth a shot. That one guy that travels around with Ishimaru is a total idiot, so at the very least he probably thinks im dead. Still for safety reasons I should remain hidden until I can make a huge impact on the village, so people dont hate me." Mai laughed, "Im not that stupid Akane, just gotta have a little bit of faith in me."
Daisuke smiled, he agreed with Akane but he didnt want to burst his daughters bubble.
"Hehehe, well you two are just in time for dinner. I fried up some Yakizakana* and rice." He told the two girls, "Your welcome to stay if you`d like Akane."

"Uh, thank you." Akane said with a bow, in response to Mai's father's offer of dinner. She hadn't eaten that well in a long time, so the offer was something she was quick to take.
As for Mai, Akane thought she wasn't taking her situation serious enough. She seemed to be seriously underestimating the Akatsuki, and failed to realize that the guy following Ishimaru wasn't the main threat. If Ishimaru even considered that Mai was alive, there was going to be trouble. Even then, there was the fact that Mai was blamed for the damage done to the Sand Village.
But for now, Akane was just glad she wasn't dead, and planned on enjoying dinner with her and the other Uchihas.

Mai hopped all of the way to the dinning room, in the middle was a low table with fluffy pillows for chairs. Hiroshi and Toshiro were both seated at the table, Toshiro kept his gaze on the table but glanced up when they came into the room. She threw up her arms in the air.
"Did ya miss me?"
Hiroshi had to do a double take, he slowly got to his feet and stared at her. Mai stared right back at him. Toshiro smiled softly when he saw the Uchiha, he had his doubts that she was dead as well... but for his own reasons. Mai flew over to her dear friend and hugged him, Hiroshi just stood there. Daisuke entered after the two girls, bringing out a few plates of the grilled fish, luckily for Mai her father was a pretty good cook.
"Come on now, lets eat we can have our reunion afterwards." Daisuke told them as he set the fish on the table. Toshiro watched Akane, hoping that she would sit next to him. Mai and Hiroshi sat down next to each other.
"Hello Akane." Toshiro said quietly.

Akane passed by Mai and Hiroshi's reunion, expecting that to have happened. She sat down next to Toshiro, responding to his hello with one of her own. She patiently waited for the food, and after thanking her host once again she started to eat.
((Eh, couldn't think of anything else to do ^^'))

THe other four also grabbed some food and began to eat as well. Daisuke watched the kids and kept quiet. Mai and Hiroshi blabbed back and forth for the longest time, Toshiro hardly said a word at all.
"So... how have you been?" Toshiro asked her as he put a small piece of fish in his mouth.

Akane swallowed her piece of fish before responding to Toshiro.
"Uh, fine." She said, though her voice didn't really support her statement. She had been shaken up about meeting her father, and her mother's condition. Whether she should mention now or not wasn't something she was sure of.
"Mai and I just got off from a mission. It was about those doctors that had been kidnapped. Turned out a man was doing it to have them research his wife's heart problem..." Her voice trailed off on the end, some tears forming in the corners of her eyes. Since she didn't want to breakdown here, she decided to change the subject.
"Uh, Daisuke, I was wondering if I could stay here with you guys for awhile. I've been having some trouble with the rent at the room I've been using and..."

Daisuke looked up and nodded his head several time. He smiled, Akane had brought Mai back to him so how could he say no? They had offered her a place to stay before.
"Yes yes of course, as long as you`d like."
Toshiro didnt say anything at first, but when he saw the small tears in his eyes he could tell that there was more to the mission than she was sharing. Perhaps she`d ask Mai about it later, but he didnt want to butt into her life. If Akane didnt want him to know then it was just something he`d have to let go.
"Oh..." Toshiro replied, "Well im glad your back and that you figured out the mystery."

Akane perked up a little when Daisuke said she could stay.
"Thank you. I'll stop by my room later and pick up my stuff. I hope I don't be a bother." She said before realizing that Toshiro had replied.
"It wasn't that impressive. The guy kind of knocked us off and dragged us to his base. But I guess I should thank you for your concern about me." She said, not really to sure what else to say. That was until she realized that Toshiro was here at all. She understood Hiroshi being here, since he was supposed to be a good friend of Mai's. But Toshiro...she didn't know anything about him for that matter.
"Say Toshiro, why are you over here anyway? Not trying to be rude, but I just realized it was a bit strange to see you here. One of the Uchiha's invited you over or something?"

Toshiro glanced down at the table when she asked why he was there. Quite frankly he didnt know why, but Daisuke insisted on him being there.
"Well..." He began slowly, He looked back up at her, "I had no where else to go, Daisuke sensei insisted that I came and stayed with them rather than me sleeping under the stars like I normally do."

"So the Uchiha's are basically opening up a boarding house." Akane said in an attempt to make a joke. She didn't know if it would go that well or not, but it was something worth trying to brighten the mood up a little bit. Taking a few more bites of her fish, she tried to think of something else for them to do.
"So Mai, did you hear they raised you to Chuunin rank after your death. Then again, since your not really dead, I guess that means your still a Genin like me and Toshiro."
