Toshiro nodded his head and watched the two of them go into the spring. Momiji sat on one side, and Akane on the opposite. Toshiro got in slowly as he decided where to place himself, he of course wanted to sit next to Akane, but he didnt want to seem too clingy. But he was curious to see what she would do, so he placed himself close to his female teammate.
On the other side of the village Hiroshi finally found Mai drooling all over the counter of Ichiraku ramen, he shook her softly and her head shot up.
"Huh w-what?!" She rubbed her eyes to see her friend standing there, "Oh, CRAP! Im late arent I?"
"Yup."

Akane glanced over as she noticed Toshiro sitting next to her. He was probably a bit nervous sitting next to the new guy, and considering his behavior so far she could understand. Still, she scooted over a little bit to give him some more room.
Momiji, on the other hand, had a different idea on Toshiro's actions. He had noticed him being a bit nervous and shy around Akane, behaviors he had read being related to a guy having a crush on a girl. Since he didn't know Toshiro well, Momiji didn't know that Toshiro was always like that. Within moments, they would find out why that was a bad thing.
"So Toshiro, do you have a crush on Akane or something?" He asked rather non-chalantly, not really realizing that such questions could be considered rather personal.
Akane nearly laughed at the question out of reflex, but she held it back. She glanced over Toshiro, waiting to see what his reaction to the question was.
((Yeah, Mai arriving right in time to hear that question would be perfect XD)).

Toshiro stared at Akane awkwardly and sunk under the water so only his eyes and orange hair were visible. He looked between the two several times before bringing his noise above the water to take a breath. The shinobi had absolutely no idea what to say, he didnt want to say no and make her think he didnt like her, but he didnt want to scare her away or be rejected either. Toshiro just sat there for another moment mustering up any courage he might of had saved up.
"U-Uuuuhhhh....." Very quietly he mouthed squeaky yes in Momiji`s direction.

If Toshiro didn't want Akane to hear the answer, he was in bad luck. Since ninja are trained to detect even the smallest of noises around them, and she was paying full attention to him, she heard his response. It was kind of, well, surprising to her, and her face started to blush. Either that or the steam in the room was getting to her, but the former was more likely.
Momiji, on the other hand, didn't notice the awkward silence between them, though he could tell Toshiro was embarrassed. He made a mental note to not ask such questions again. But since he knew he had to respond, he just gave out a rather bored "Interesting" in reply.
With that, Akane finally started trying to respond to Toshiro, knowing if she didn't he'd probably sink himself in the water so much he'd drown.
"Well, uhm, I'm flattered you have a crush on me Toshiro. So, uhm, how long have you had it?"

Toshiro distanced himself from her a little bit since she looked a little uncomfortable to him. He kept most of his face hidden in the hot water, but he was mostly hidden by the steam. His bright purple eyes were the only thing you could see besides his wild orange hair. When Akane asked him the question he thought back, then surfaced himself.
"Umm... the ...uhh... chuunin exams..." He stuttered. Toshiro glanced at the door, hoping that Hiroshi and Mai would come in and take the spotlight off of him. But it did feel a little better to finally get this off of his chest.

"You two went to the Chuunin Exams?" Momiji asked. He thought it odd these two went, and he was interested considering the events that occured there.
Akane replied yes before looking down. She was still shameful of the events that transpired there. That was why she was surprised to hear Toshiro had gotten the crush then. She wasn't even herself at the point. It was a bit weird, but she hid that in order to make sure Toshiro didn't feel even more embarrased than he was now.
Speaking of that, Akane scooted over to him and started to gently pull him up by his hair.
"No need to hide in the water like that Toshiro. Like I said, I'm flattered you have a crush on me. You don't have to nervous about that."

Toshiro stared up at her when she gently pulled him up. He still was pretty much cowering away from her at this point, but tried not to resist. He sat up with a very innocent look on his face. Toshiro didnt know what to say anymore, but he did feel a tad bit more confident now that she was closer and told him not to worry about it.
"R-Reeeeallly? Your not mad at me at all?"

"Trust me, that doesn't make me mad at all. After everything that's happened the last few months I'm glad to hear at least one decent thing related to me." She responded.
Noticing that he was cowering from her, Akane pulled him a bit closer to her. She expected him to freak out, but she hope instead he calmed down a bit. Besides, it would help clear up the awkwardness that was in the air by just getting it all over with. If it wasn't resolved now then it could disrupt a mission or something. About the only thing that made her nervous was, knowing Mai's timing, this would be the moment she walked in, probably thinking that her and Toshiro were cuddling.
Momiji, meanwhile, seemed to be a bit interested in what was going on between his partners. In a bit of a twisted way, it was funny to him. By now he was starting to see that Toshiro was just naturally shy person, and the situation had just worsened it. Akane, on the other hand, was pretty straightfoward and forceful, to a degree. He could tell she was a bit hesitant a moment ago, and apparently had some knowledge of tactfullness.

Toshiro was practically hyperventilating, he couldnt remember the last time anyone had ever hugged or touched him. But now as he slowly began to relax a bit he found himself incredibly confused. She held him closely, so did she like him back? Toshiro didnt understand what was going on.
Mai flew through the door wearing a blue two piece swimsuit, to show off the five pronged seal on her stomach. She cannonballed into the hot water and splashed everyone, the Uchiha burst out of the water laughing all of the way. But she stopped when she saw Akane and Toshiro. Toshiro was practically her brother, so it was so strange to see him with her best friend. Hiroshi came in soon after wearing orange swim trunks he waited until the waves of boiling water died down before he got in too. He raised an eyebrow at Toshiro as he sat next to Mai. It was obvious that he put his arm around the Uchiha, she turned to him and tilted her head.
"Do you want a hug Hiroshi?" She asked, oblivious to what he was doing. Hiroshi shrugged and smiled as the girl hugged him.
"Ooh are you guys dating now?" Mai quickly asked Akane and Toshiro, Hiroshi turned to Momiji and lifted a hand.
"You must be their new teammate?"

Akane couldn't move fast enough to let go of Toshiro when Mai cannonballed into the water. Amidst the grumbling from the other people, Akane glared at her. Momiji glared as well, and for the same reason; they both thought it just plain stupid. The difference was Akane was used to it and wouldn't mind in the long run, but Momiji would hold it against her. Momiji, however, was a bit distracted. He had seen the seal on her stomach, and he noticed the obvious features of a Uchiha. This had to be the same Mai that had 'died' at the Sand Village, who apparently didn't die. It was an interesting turn of events for him. Still, being drenched in water made him put that thought behind as the conversations began to take place. "Yes, I'm there new teammate. The name is Momiji. I'm guessing you're the Hiroshi person I've heard them mention before, and that the girl is Mai?" Over at Akane, she was trying to figure out how to respond to Mai. She didn't have plans on dating Toshiro. She just wanted to keep him from drowning himself in embarrasment. But if she said no straight away, he'd probably just go back to the way he was before. But if she said yes when she didn't mean it, things would get kind of awkward. "No Mai, we're not dating. No offense Toshiro, but even though you're a nice guy I'm not really that interested in dating right now." ((OOC: Before you said anything, I said I'd be willing to ship Akane. I didn't say it would be easy  )) |

Toshiro stared blankly at the water when Akane rejected him, it wasnt the first time he had felt his heart sink like this, but this was definitely the most humiliating. He glanced up at Mai who frowned slightly, she had been rooting for her friend, but she knew that Akane was too stubborn. But did she really have to be so blunt with Toshiro? He was an emotionally broken boy, nobody cared about him but the Uchiha and Hiroshi.
"O-Ohh... well thats fine, I guess." Toshiro sank back and slipped away out of Akane`s reach, then stood up, "I... uhh... I have to go..."
Mai grabbed his arm and pulled him back in. Hiroshi glanced at Momiji and nodded his head to answer his questions.
"Dont go Toshiro! Shes like that to everyone."

Akane and Momiji were confused. Both of them thought that Akane's rejection was relatively nice. Akane, however, was the only one to actually react to it. She would have grabbed Toshiro herself if Mai hadn't beaten her to it.
"Toshiro, I'm not trying to be mean. I like you, but I'm not interested in dating period, no matter who the guy is. Don't blame yourself."
She glared over at Momiji, blaming him for starting this entire mess with his "do you have a crush" question. Still, she knew it was also her own fault for being rather blunt, but she didn't see any other way to let Toshiro know she wasn't really interested.

Toshiro glanced down and grinned to himself. Mai stared at him with a dumbfounded look on her face, was he actually smiling? Too bad she didnt have a camera right now, or else that would have been a picture perfect moment for the orange haired boy. Toshiro looked up at Akane, with that oddly wild grin on his face.
"Dont worry about it, I can wait." He told her, seeming to have some kind of confidence in his voice.
Mai poked him several times and looked him over. Did somebody switch his mind with someone elses? He was acting really odd, Toshiro never seemed to smile nor so any sort of happy emotions. He sat back down, hands behind his head and sat back, letting himself float on top of the water.
"I can wait." He repeated. Toshiro closed his eyes.
"Did you do something to him Akane? He sure is acting funny." Mai whispered to her friend very loudly. Hiroshi rolled his eyes, Mai was horrible at whispering.
"Nope, just having a good moment thats all... No need to worry." Toshiro laughed. The Uchiha narrowed her eyes, Toshiro must have been telling them everything about him.

"I think I might have given him some hope." Akane replied to Mai, doing a much better job at whispering.
While she hadn't been around Toshiro as much as Mai, Akane still knew he was usually a morbid person. So seeing acting, well, happy was a bit off-setting. She was glad, however, that he wasn't trying to flee the scene or drown himself in embarrassment.
With all the excitement of the revelation over with, Momiji was back to being disinterested in his companions lives. Still, with a group this lively he had to think of something to do, so asked what he thought was probably the most important question.
"So then Akane and Toshiro, what sort of jutsu do you use? I personally use sand type jutsu."
Akane tilted her head, surprised to hear Momiji speaking, as well as the fact he used sand jutsu. Outside of the Hidden Sand, not many people used it. He must have had connections to the Sand Village if he knew it.
"Uhm, I mostly use Ice and Water based jutsu. It's not anything special."

Akane hadn`t exactly given Toshiro hope, in fact if anything he was still quite downhearted about her leading him on. But he had built up quite a bit of courage in order to tell her, so after that he still had some left over which was probably soon to fade away once he remembered the whole event. What he said was true though, he was willing to wait for her, Toshiro just hoped that it wouldn`t take forever.
Mai shrugged, glad to see Toshiro happy, but knew it wouldn`t last forever. She paddled her way back over to Hiroshi, who casually tried the arm trick again, which resulted in another hug. Toshiro chuckled to himself quietly watching the two. They all glanced up at the quiet Momiji.
"I dont use much ninjutsu, I specialize in Genjutsu, and use a little bit of more complex taijutsu than the standard punches and kicks." He replied, "You must be from Sunagakure then? Our team is a bunch of non-natives of Konoha if thats true."
