After the chuunin exams she really really wanted to go out and get a nice bowl of ramen. Sasuke had told her that he would take her, but got called away on a mission right after the exams were out. Mai was pretty glad that she didnt have to face Ishimaru at the exams again, he must have been bad luck for her or something.
So when she headed off to Ichiraku and put on her new chuunin vest over her coat and pranced through the streets of Konoha. Mai was so incredibly happy that she got to be a chuunin, and maybe she might even run into her team. The Uchiha was one of the three genin that got to advance onto the next rank, along with Akane and some sand ninja. Maybe she would run into the hyper mystery of a genin Douke, he seemed like her type of character.

"Mai-san!" A usual voice cried out in the city as a masked boy came charging at Mai (a quick look at his feet revealed he was using the Speed of the Gentle Breeze technique). He jumped at her in order to give her a friendly 'glomp', but missed and found himself crashing into the counter.
"Douke-san is okay." He said, though the rather slow tone showed that he might not have been one hundred percent okay. Still, he was rather quick to stand up again, and then finish what he had started by giving her a hug before sitting down on a stool.
"Is Mai-chan enjoying her new Chuunin rank?" He asked, noticing the Chuunin vest that Mai was now wearing.

Mai spun around when she heard her name being shouted by a familiar voice, then she heard a loud crash as Douke over shot her. She threw out her arms so they could hug, but when Douke overshot her and nearly smashed the counter she stared at him blankly. But once he shot back up and hugged her Mai couldnt help but laugh, finally there was somebody else in Konoha who was just as ditzy as her.
"Yeah! Its fantastic, I cant wait to go on some more dangerous missions. Are your sure that you`re okay? Didnt hit your head or anything did you?" Mai checked him over a couple of times to make sure there wasnt any blood.

"Don't worry, I'm fine. This mask is not just for looks. It works very well as an armor." Douke replied as he gently knocked on his mask.
"Besides, I've gotten enough head injuries in my life that I'm the most thick headed ninja around." He added.
"Doesn't surprise me at all."
Turning around, Douke saw Shikaniku and Inoko coming into the bar. While he missed the implication of the statement, Douke did know that these two were some of Mai-chan's friends. And any friend of Mai's, or anyone else he knew for that matter, was a friend of his. Besides, he already met them when they attacked the bandits he used to be a member of.
"Aih, come over here and sit with use Shika-san and Inoko-chan." He said, waving over at them frantically. Shikaniku just kept on moving, but Inoko joined them.
"Don't worry about him Mai. He just thinks you're going to rub it in his face you're a Chuunin, and he'd rather just let you believe you won instead of bothering with an argument."
Inoko started to look at Mai's Chuunin vest. She didn't think it looked good on her at all, but she probably would want to wear it for awhile till the feeling of being a Chuunin wore off and became another aspect of her life. Still, Inoko had to be supportive of her friend.
"So then, enjoying being a Chuunin just like you're friend Hiroshi?" She asked, placing some slight emphasis on Hiroshi just to tease Mai about her 'boyfriend.'

Mai smirked when she saw her teammates come into Ichiraku, but she turned to the man behind the counter and ordered a bowl of ramen. But she felt a little disheartened by the fact that Shikaniku didnt even look at her, she stood up and followed him over to his spot. Mai crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow. She uncrossed her arms and whacked him upside the head.
"As much as I`d love to rub it in your face I never intended to say a thing because I knew you would feel jealous. Maybe I am a little bit of a show off, but can you blame me? Its what keeps me sane, otherwise the village would have something to truly be afraid of." Mai went back over to her spot and sat back down. "I havent actually seen Hiroshi since we`ve got back, but im sure it will be funny to see his reaction."

Shikaniku rubbed the back of his head as Mai walked away. He had avoided talking to her to avoid an argument, and still ended up getting hit. There just wasn't anyway he could win, could he? Besides, it wasn't that he was jealous, he just didn't want to be around Mai while she was showboating because it would probably give him a headache, and it was annoying. On the bright side, she had Inoko and Douke to talk to, so hopefully she'd leave him alone.
"Mai-chan, did you have to hit him in the head like that? It didn't seem nice." Douke said as Mai sat back down. He wasn't a very violent person, so he didn't really understand these two girls always beating Shikaniku in the head.
"It's just our little way of keeping him in line when he kind of acts like a jerk. He'll eventually learn to be a little nicer around others if we keep it up." Inoko replied.
"So you're training him like a dog?"
Inoko just looked at him before turning her attention to Mai. Since Douke didn't look like he really understood, she didn't want to bother explaining. So he decided to just sit there quietly till someone spoke to him.
"I'm sure Hiroshi will love to hear the news. I bet he can't wait to be put on a mission with you some day."

Mai didnt say anything from that point, she just sat there at her place quietly until her ramen came. Hopefully eating a little something would calm her nerves a bit, she didnt want to have anymore explosive outbursts but she still stood by what she had said. Mai was pretty miserable on the inside, but she managed to put on a happy face. Having to work towards a single goal did keep her in the right mindset. When ever she walked through Konoha she saw everybody sneer and whisper about her, and one day she wanted everybody to change their minds about her.
She ate her ramen quickly and listened to the others speak. Douke must not have had a chance to see her explosive personality.
"Heh, dont worry Douke, as long as you stay a good boy you`ll never have to face our wrath." Mai teased him as she winked at him. "Are you guys going to get anything to eat? My treat."

"Oh, Douke will always be a good boy." He replied, somehow giving off the feeling of smiling even though he still had the mask on.
With the offer of food, the two ninja's personalities really came to the forefront. Inoko shook her head, citing the reason that she planned on training soon and didn't want to deal with any nausea that might erupt from having a full stomach during kicks, flips, and chakra molding. Douke, of course, gladly accepted.
"Yay! Thank you Mai-chan. Douke-san would love to have some ramen."
This intrigued Inoko, who had been wondering what was right behind that mask. This was probably the best chance she'd get to see.
((Guess where this is going XD)).

Mai continued to eat her ramen while she paused and thought of something, what did Douke look like without the mask on? He probably looked like a little kid in a teenagers body, or maybe he was really handsome. She giggled at the thought and waited.
"Watching your two battles were really interesting, your fighting style is very interesting." Mai told him, trying to strike up a conversation, "Where did you learn it? I`ve never seen it before."

"My fighting style?" Douke said, eyes glancing at the bowl of ramen that sat in front of him. He wanted to dig in, but he had to answer Mai-chan's question first.
"Yeah, it's a bit odd. I've seen some wind users before, but you're probably the first I've seen to use it like that." Inoko added.
"Uhm, well, before I lived with the bandits, my father was a ninja for Hidden Cloud. He told me that long ago, way, way , WAY back, there was a monk who practiced the art. According to the story, the monk used to meditate on a mountain, sensing he air currents around him. Eventually he learned to control these currents, and soon adopted them into taijutsu styles. From that day forward, Dance of the Wind became a very popular form of taijutsu for people with Wind releases. In fact, Akane-chan want's me to teach her it."
Douke ended his story with a nod and crossing his arms, looking rather serious.
"Then again, my dad was nuts so for all I know he made the stuff up. Even claimed the guy had a flying bison. Whoever heard of such a thing. Now, DIG IN!"
With that, Douke grabbed a hold of his mask. But instead of taking it off, he began to turn it around on his head until the headband that was holding it was shown. The headband was a massive one, covering the entire face. And cut right into were two eye holes and a mouth. About the only thing they could gain from it was that his head was at least normal shaped.
As Douke rapidly sucked up the noodles of his ramen, Inoko just sat there, a massive sweatdrop appearing on the back of her head.

Mai rolled her eyes when Douke managed to not show his face to them, but she was still pretty curious. What did he have to hide under that mask? Could it be so terrible that he was afraid to show his face, or was he just so amazing looking that he was afraid he`d be attacked by a large sum of fan girls? Mai tapped him on the shoulder.
"Douke can I ask you a question? Why do you wear a mask?"

"Whmat?" Douke said, his mouth full of ramen to the point he wasn't able to speak. He quickly swallowed it up before speaking again.
"Why do I wear a mask?" He said, though it was in a rather questioning voice. He leaned back on an imaginary wall, and started to poke his chin with this finger as he started to think. He sat there quiet for a minute or so before finally speaking up.
"Because it's fun." He said, a smile really showing underneath his headband-mask.
"That's it?!" Inoko yelled out, more surprised than mad. Of course, Douke didn't take it that way and quickly ducked down, mumbling don't hurt Douke. Everyone in the restaurant started to look, and Inoko nervously got down and held him with one arm.
"It's alright Douke, we aren't going to hurt you. I was just surprised because, well, people usually don't do things like wear masks twenty four seven because it's fun." She said, her voice nervous because of all the eyes on her. Douke stopped trembling for a moment, and then hugged Inoko.
"Okay then, all is forgiven." He said, with Inoko blushing in embarrasment. She was starting to miss Shikaniku a little bit.

Mai laughed, it was a good enough excuse for her. She could understand why making people guess was fun, but she still wanted to know what he looked like. Maybe she could find him afterwords and talk to him more about it. Douke seemed like a fun guy, and they could probably get along very well.
"Hey Douke, after we eat and get out of here you and I should hang out or something." Mai suggested, wondering what he would say to that. He was much more interesting than her teammates, plus Shikaniku probably didnt want to look at her anymore.

"Aren't we hanging out right now Mai-chan?" Douke asked as he finished slurping the warm liquid ramen. With it gone, he shifted his mask back into place.
Shikaniku had been watching the scene with a mild interest. Douke was a weird kid, but entertaining if you liked physical comedy. He had a bowl of ramen in front of him that was half eaten, so he continued to eat. Still, he kept his eye on the scene to see what else would happen between the three of them.
Inoko, meanwhile, wondered why Mai left her out of the offer? Was there something about her that made her not a fun person to hang out with or something? She felt a little rejected about it, and a small pout appeared on her face.
"Do you want some alone time with him Mai?" she asked, a little bit of an attitude in her voice.

Mai shrugged, she could tell that Inoko was a little offended that she hadnt offered for her to tag along. Inoko was her teammate, thus saw her much more often than any of her other friends. So getting to know somebody who had saved her alone seemed like a decent idea to her.
"If you want to put it that way, yeah I guess." She said without any shame, if Inoko thought that she meant it in some kind of romantic way she was wrong. Mai just enjoyed hanging out with guys that were fun to be around, Shikaniku was too boring for her taste. "We can hang out later if you want Inoko, I just dontt think that you like me too much so assumed you wouldnt want to come. Not very many people like me much, I know Shikaniku hates me. He hasnt said anything since I smacked him."
