"You got it easy compared to when my dad drilled Daisuke`s first girlfriend. She dumped him right after that. I think my dad is just trying to test you though, just seeing if your willing to stick by my side even if they`re creepy. I promise that next time they wont be so terrible to be around."
Mai felt kind of bad that her brother had to be creepy around Douke, she would have to have a talk with Daisuke about that later. She just really hoped that Douke wouldnt change his opinion about her now, and was starting to regret taking him there.
"Sounds good to me." Mai tried to get the thought of rejection out of her mind, so she smiled and headed in the direction of Inoko`s flower shop.

"Oh, trust me, it'll take a lot more to creep me out enough to leave. You live with bandits for a few years, you can get used to it." Douke replied as he followed Mai to Inoko's flower shop. He was in a good mood now that he was free from the Uchiha compound and it's rules, but that changed once they reached the shop.
"It's closed." He said as he squatted down, poking the "We're Closed" sign. It was strange, considering it was still daytime. Did that mean she was out on a mission or something? Or maybe someone kidnapped Inoko...nah, she wasn't really worth kidnapping. Maybe he was sick then.
"Hey, you two, looking for the Yamanaka's?" A man nearby said, stopping his chore of sweeping.
"Ai. We're friends of Inoko and wanted to say hi." Douke replied, giving the guy a friendly wave.
"Oh, they closed up awhile ago. Apparently on some trip to go locate some rare flower or something. Happens about once a month. They won't be back for a day or two." He said.
"Okay then. Douke-san understands." He replied, looking a little bummed out.

Mai crossed her arms and thought of something they could do next, she thought through her small list of friends they could go visit. Hiroshi was out on a mission, Toshiro was probably hanging out with Akane. Shikaniku probably didnt want to see Mai ever again, so going to visit him probably wasnt that great of an idea.
"What else do you want to do Douke? We could go and bug Akane, or Toshiro."

"Actually Mai, you're date is over. The council's assigning you to your first B-Ranked Mission. Don't ask me what it is, I don't know." A voice said from behind them. Douke jumped almost ten feet in the air (in his case literally), and even started to pull out a kunai knife before he saw who it was.
"Oh, Hojo-sensei. Douke-san didn't even hear you sneak up on us, and normally I'm good at that sort of thing. That, and I didn't even know you could sneak. You're always so loud and all..." he said, voice trailing off.
Hojo sweatdropped a little at the comment. He was a jounin level ninja, so of course he could sneak around. Besides, it wasn't as if this kid any room to talk about being loud. Douke was probably more eccentric than he was.
"Anyway, from my understanding, they are assigning you, Daisuke, and I to be on a team together for the mission. And keep this a secret, but it's also a test to see if Daisuke is ready to become a jounin. If all goes well, he'll get promoted."

Mai spun around when Douke shot up, she nearly sprang into the air herself. Normally she could hear Hojo from a mile away, so hearing his voice and connecting it to a sneaky way of getting around was a little hard to imagine. But the promise of a good B ranked mission sounded like music in her ears, the last mission she had been on was fairly boring... although she did meet the spazmatic man of her dreams.
"Daisuke a jounin? Hmm, never thought i`d live to see the day." Mai teased, she uncrossed her arms and placed her hands in her pockets, "When do we leave?"

"Don't know yet. All I got was a message from the Council about there being some urgent issues at hand that needed attention. You can finish up here if you want, or go ahead and follow me to the Kage's Tower. Your choice." Hojo replied as he started to walk off, giving a quick wave behind.
"Go ahead and go Mai-chan. I'm sure you're just itching to go on this mission. Just don't forget to memorize what happens so you can tell Douke-san everything that happens okay." He replied, giving Mai a quick hug before starting to leave himself.

Mai nodded her head and quickly returned Douke`s hug. She smiled in his direction and waved before heading off behind Hojo. She thought about all of the wild possibilities for the mission that she was being presented with. If it was so urgent why wasnt the council sending really experienced jounin or anbu to take care of it? Instead the council was sending the two children of the village`s most powerful ninja and Hojo. Hojo was probably sent to supervise the two chuunin.
"What all do you know about the mission Hojo sensei?"

"Uhm, it's B-ranked, I'm on it, and that we need to get to the Kage's tower to learn more. You're going to learn quickly Mai that once you get to the higher ranked missions they become pretty protective of all information related to it." He replied as they began to approach the Hokage's Tower.
While Naruto was still alive, it had been used as the official home for the Kage as well as the center of government for the city. Now, it still retained that role, but the Council was mostly responsible for running things, and it was mostly jounin who took care of giving out the missions.
"You know, I hope we get a Hokage soon. While I think we could manage without one for a while, sooner or later this village is going to need someone they can trust and inspire them. And no, you can't be that person just yet Mai." Hojo added in, knowing she wanted to become Hokage someday.
Eventually the two of them entered the mission briefing room, where three ninja were currently sitting at desks with lots of paper.
"Ah, Hojo, you got here quick. We were just getting the last of the information about the mission set up. All we got to do is wait for Daisuke and we will be good to go."

Mai bounced along behind her sensei as he explained all that he knew about the mission. But it came to little surprise that they didnt have very much information about it at all. Soon she bounced past Hojo and she gazed up at the hokage tower. She grinned and pointed towards it.
"I know I`m too young right now, but you just wait Hojo sensei. I`ll stand on top of the Hokage tower and smile down on my people. I`ll beat the odds. And the day I become the hokage, the Uchiha name wont be cursed anymore." Mai told him, allowing her hand to drop.
Once inside of the tower they headed into the council room to hear about their mission. But Mai was surprised to see that Daisuke wasnt there yet. Daisuke was actually in the tower, but he had stopped by the bathroom before they had to sit through the details. He quickly came in, whipping his hands off on his pants since he didnt have time to dry off his hands after washing them.
"Sorry." Daisuke bowed to the council, his sister eyed him for a moment. Both of the Uchiha siblings turned their attention to the council members, waiting to hear the mission.

"Don't worry about it. Trust us, we've delt with people who had much worse timing skills." The oldest of the ninja's mentioned, most likely refering to the legendary Kakashi Hatake and his infamous chronic tardiness.
"Now then, as you all know, this is a B-Ranked mission. It has come to the knowledge of the council that there has been a cult of Jashin worshippers growing inside the village walls. This is of great concern to us because, as you may know, one of the members of the original Akatsuki was of this group. We wish for you three to infiltrate the cult as potential members of the cult in order to get close to the leader and eliminate him or her."
"Jashin cult? That sounds pretty serious. They're the ones who see killing people as a religious duty right?" Hojo asked, having recalled some info from the past when it was big news that Shikimaru had killed that Hidan fellow.
"Exactly. We aren't sure if their leader has access to the same technique as Hidan had, but be warned that you may not be able to 'kill' the leader in the normal fashion. You have till tomorrow to prepare yourselves for the mission. You are dismissed."

Both of the Uchiha siblings listened intently, Daisuke especially. Both of them had heard a little bit about Shikamaru`s run in with the immortal Hidan in his teenage years. Naruto, if he was still alive, could probably fill them in on even more details as to handling the situation. Yuuto might even be a great source since he spent many years as Naruto`s apprentice. But still this was Daisuke`s test, if he could bring them home safely he would be promoted to the jounin rank and he could lead his own team of genin.
"Understood, Mai go home and get rest I`ll be there in a bit."

Mission Description: Recent reports suggest that a branch of the Jashin cult has begun to make it's way into Konoha. Due to past experience, it is known that members of this cult are dangerous and must be dealt with. Infiltrate and eliminate the cult leader.
