A Week Off (Open)

Mai was officially bored. She had been circling one of the restraunts there for the past ten minutes or so, the food sure did smell good but she didnt have any money on her. She had been debating on whether or not she should eat and run, or just wait till her dad got back into the village. Her stomach gurgled.

"Awww man... this sucks..."she grumbled walking around the building one last time before she just stood at the door.

"So, they decided to hold the Chuunin Exams here at the Sand Village. Well, a change of scenery is nice."

For the last month Hojo had decided to work on training himself, improving his taijutsu skills in preparation for the future. After fighting Henjin he thought his fighting skills had declined, but his skills were now better then ever. And with his vacation time gone, it was time to find his students. It didn't take long for him to notice one of them; Mai Uchiha.

"Well hello there Mai. If your hungry I'd be willing to pay for you." He said as he placed a hand on her shoulders.

Mai slowly looked up at her first sensei and grinned a very hungry but happy smile. She turned and latched onto to him when he offered to get her some food. There might never have been a happier time in her life. Mai plus food equals happiness.

"Your the nicest man on the planet!!"She still didnt release him. Nor did she even say happy to see you Hojo sensei, she`d get to that after she got something in her stomach.

"Uh, thank you Mai?" Hojo said, a bit surprised at Mai's reaction. He had expected a more "hello sensei", not a thank you for buying food. Then again, that was one of Mai's priorities.

"So, go on in and get your order set up, and then I want you to explain to me whats been going on since I left. Especially the exams."

Mai let go of Hojo and began to talk a million miles an hour, her words were so fast you couldnt tell what she was saying, then she flew inside. She quickly ordered the restaurant`s special and waited anxiously for its arrival. The Uchiha tapped her foot on the floor as she waited for him to come in as well.

Garun and Hino were walking up the sand filled road when Hino tapped Garun's shoulder. "what is it Hino" Garun asked him. "Is that Hojo over there" Hino said pointing him out to Garun. "Hey it is lets say hi" Garun said quickly before the two ran over to him. "Hi Hojo" Garun said as he got to their old sensei. "hello Sensei" Hino said when he got to Hojo. "What brings you to the sand village" Garun asked him.

"Ah, there you two are. Anyways, I came to watch you all during the exams, though one of the few things I got from Mai was that the first test is over. By the way, is something wrong with her that is causing her to speak so fast?" Hojo asked as he saw his other two students arrive.

"You know, answer that once we are inside. I promised to buy lunch for Mai, so I'll pay for you all as well. Better hurry though. She looks as if she'll explode."

With that Hojo headed inside and sat down next to Mai, not ordering anything to eat because he was fine.

Mai had a big smile on her face, she did look like she was going to explode. She was bouncing in her seat waiting for her food to come out. She began to hum, then she paused, turned to Hojo and tilted her head like a dog.

"Hey Hojo sensei, do you know my dad?"she asked curiously.

Garun and Hino walked in and sat themselves down. "Mai gets erxcited over food. escpecially ramen" Hino said to Hojo. Garun ordered some plain ramen with Hino doing the same. "Yeah the first exams are over and we have a week off before the second ones begin. The first exam was differentto what we expected. Though we did have a good time apart from when fighting the giant scorpion though together we made the giant scorpion look like a little mouse" Garun said with a smile. Hino sat quietly while thinking of the next exam. These could be hard so I better learn to finish my fights fast Hino thought to himself.

"Uh, yeah, I know your dad Mai. Why, anything in particular you need to know about him or something?" Hojo asked. Doing a bit of multi-tasking, he also listened to Garun describe the events that had occured in his absence. He already knew some of what happened, but talking to his students could get him better details than whatever someone else could report. Besides, they were more fun to talk to anyways.

"Yeah, I heard the first exam was a Forest-of-Death like part. Just be lucky you didn't have the test. Unless you figured out the secret behind it you'd probably crack before it was over." He said with a grin, memories of his time in the Chuunin Exams returning.

Mai shrugged and said, "Nope just curious." She began to lean her chair back, then tipped it back into its normal position again. She rocked back and forth several times while she was burning time. "Do all of the jounin know each other? I`ll know everybody when Im hokage." Suddenly she tipped her chair back a little too far, she fell back and was sprawled out on the floor. "Ughh...."

"Mai are you alright" Garun shouted as he jumped up and leaned down next to her. "Mai are you alright anything broken or injured" Garun asked her.

Hino had remained seated as he knew that overcrowding her wouldnt help. Garun and hojo can ask her all the questions He to himself

There wasnt anything wrong with her besides the fact that she was a little dazed. She grinned and sat up.
"Im fine, Im fine... dont worry about me so much."she laughed.

Garun stood up before holding his hand out to help her up "Sorry I'll try" Garun said to her while he waited for her to take his hand.

Mai took his hand and got to her feet. She grinned and said, "Dont be sorry, your future hokage is always perfectly fine!"
