"She'd eat a rock if you offered it to her." Ishimaru replied, completely serious.
Grabbing the crutches he would need for the journey, he leaned against the giant bison while waiting for everyone else to finish up. He wanted to get to Omashu before nightfall, or at least get out of the cave before that time.

Avani laughed, for once something Ishimaru said was funny rather than being dry and humorless. She gave the piece of bread to Suppo then threw her bag back on the saddle. Yasuo laid back down and went to sleep until he was needed.
"Shall we go?"

"Remember Zhang to meet us on the other side of the ridge, okay." Ishimaru said before giving Suppo one last goodbye rub before walking up to Avani.
"Now then, let's just hope that cave isn't too long of a walkthrough. These crutches can be such a pain at times." Ishimaru added as he started to head towards the cave entrance. It didn't seem to be that odd looking, but he had a feeling that there something special about it. He just couldn't put his finger on it.

Zhang saluted Ishimaru as they headed off to go up the mountain.
All Avani had brought with her was her small canteen of water, so if they ran into anything she could have some kind of defense. She followed after Ishimaru and soon passed him, but she slowed her pace so he could keep up.
"This cave kind of ... seems strange doesnt it?"

"A little bit. But I don't think its..."
Ishimaru stopped talking after hearing a slamming sound coming from behind him. Turning around, he saw that the entrance to the cave was now blocked by a giant wall of earth. He quickly started to see if there were any Earth Kingdom soldiers around, but if they were, he couldn't see them.
"Avani, stay close. I think there might be Earth Kingdom soldiers in here. Who else could have done that?" Ishimaru said, his voice sounding a bit edgy. He knew that if they were to get into a fight in his condition, things would be bad. There wasn't much he could do with his legs like this, or in a cave.

Avani neared Ishimaru, more for his safety though. He was still pretty beat up from the last attack on them, and she was perfectly fine. She was the avatar after all, so if anyone should have been protecting them it should have been her.
"We forgot to have Zhang light the torch." She commented once everything went pitch black. Avani placed a hand on Ishimaru`s shoulder so they wouldnt get separated. "I knew I should have asked Zhang to show me a quick fire bending technique... darn it."

"You do realize that there are other ways to make fire outside of firebending, right? Since they are torches, they are built to be flammable. Just take one and strike it against another. The friction created should make a spark, and hopefully catch it on fire." Ishimaru replied, not really caring about Avani's hand being on his shoulder.
He was wishing that they had some light though. While he didn't hear anything moving, he would rather be able to see what was happening in the cave. Fighting blind was not something he wanted to deal with. Besides, they would need to be able to see where they were going if they wanted to get out of here safely.

Avani knew it wasnt the only way to build a fire, a sharp object against a rocky surface could create some sparks but it could take awhile. She didnt know if Ishimaru`s plan would actually work, but it was worth a shot.
"I know Ishimaru, but it would be the easiest way to get a lit torch." She giggled as they continued to walk slowly through the cave.

"Yes, but as this situation shows, it's a good idea to not be completely dependent on bending skills." Ishimaru replied as he stayed close. Normally he'd be a little embarrassed by the closeness, but the feeling that something was wrong here made him ignore it.
Since they hadn't seen any benders outside of the cave, so if there were benders where did they come from? And even the best of stealth experts would have trouble being completely hidden in a large cave because of the echoing. So just what caused the cave entrance to close up on them like that.

Avani didnt reply at first when Ishimaru mentioned bending wasnt always reliable. It was true in some cases, but her bending had never let her down. But the darkness in the cave wasnt much of a comfort, and neither of her bending elements could do much to ease the feeling. She still felt as if they were being watched or followed. But she remembered something, when the tribe elders were telling her about all of the avatar things they had mentioned a couple of the original benders. Air Bison, the moon, dragons, and badger moles.
"Maybe an animal is lurking around the cave?"

"Maybe, but at the moment I'm not too concerned with that. I'm much more concerned about the fact that we're currently in complete darkness. If you're not going to do anything about it, I'll do it." Ishimaru said a bit grumpibly.
Taking some of the sticks and torches, he set them on the ground and then sat down. Taking the sticks, he began to rapidly rubbing it against the torch until a little spark came, and the torch began to slowly come to life with fire.
"There, that is much better." He said as he struggled to his feet, torch in hand. Now that they could actually see what was going on around them, he found that the cave walls were not where they should have been. The area behind them that they had been walking from had been blocked off.
"Whatever is in here, it can Earthbend. That's not very comforting."

"O-Oh..." Avani didnt know that Ishimaru had wanted him to start the torch, he hadnt handed them to her so she had assumed that he had wanted to do it himself. But once there was a little bit of light, she let go of his shoulder and looked about the cave.
"Maybe its a badger mole? The elders told me about them when they were telling me about spirit guides and the very first benders."

"Yes, I've heard of them before. They're blind, and are able to metaphorically see through Earth bending. And as far as I know, they're vegetarian so we shouldn't be eaten. They might just want to observe us to make sure we aren't a threat. So I suggest we keep moving. But, uhm, we're should we go."
If they were going to have to be dealing with blind badger moles messing with the layout of the cave, they were going to be in big trouble. Getting out of the cave would be much harder when the path was never the same. But people probably used the cave before, so there had to be a way to get through it.
"Keep an eye out for anything unusual. Even with the badger moles messing with the layout, people had to be able to get through here somehow."

Avani didnt know what they could do to keep from getting lost, but they were kind of already lost since they didnt know where they were in the first place. She puzzled over what to do, if they had any paper they could map out every place they had been and maybe find some sort of connection to find a way out.
"Do you happen to have any parchment to write on? We could make a map... but if the paths keep changing that probably wont work."

"Yeah, that would not be a good plan. With the walls changing all the time, the paths on the maps would be useless. Besides, I didn't bring any parchment with me. I thought it would be rather extraneous." Ishimaru said in his usual monotone voice. Still, there was a hint of frustration in his voice.
As they kept moving, he noticed the slight differences in the walls that showed where the moles had changed them. He wished he knew where they were leading them. There had to be a plan to it, unless the moles were planning on starving them to death.
