Daisuke watched him carefully, seeing what he did wrong.
"Well you need to do it all very seamlessly."He told Garun, "You have to get it through one quick rhythm, number and count out the steps. One, put the ash in your mouth. Two, dont swallow it and spit it into the air. Three, click your teeth when there is just a little big of ash in your mouth. Its kind of like a trail of ash, so if you do it while there is a little in your mouth it may work easier... but its much more risky."
Mai still worked on her jutsu. She watched as the little blots of lightning jumped from finger tip to finger tip. it was like her own personal light show. Daisuke turned when he heard the familiar sound, he smiled. She was doing well now, only a matter of time. Her hand suddenly incased itself in lightning when she looked away for an instant. It freaked her out, she released her wrist and shook her hand trying to get it to stop. It stopped.
"Awww... sooooo close that time!"

Garun listened and took Daisukes advice. He put a little bit of ash in his mouth and began the process. Nothing happened when he spat it out. Again and again he tried with the same result. Getting annoyed he took a breath to calm down before continueing. He put the ash in his mouth, did the hand signs and spat it out. As he spat it he swore he saw a spark but he couldnt be sure.

"Keep at it kid, you`ll get it soon enough."Daisuke told Garun, and hesitantly patted him on the shoulder. He didnt know Garun very well, but he was doing this as a favor to Mai since he wanted them to do well in the exams.
Mai preformed the hand seals again and again before she got the sparks to start flying again. Her finger tips were bent ready for the lightning, she saw the sparks faintly and took hold of her wrist.
"Almost... there..."she whispered to herself, "Come on ... come on... just a little bit more...."

Garun smiled at Daisuke as he patted him before he continued on with his training. He then began concentrating his chakra towards his mouth to see if that would work better. Once he though his chakra was in his mouth he put the ash in his mouth and began the hand signs. When he spat it out he saw no spark. Taking a breath he put the pouch down and walked over to a tree. He began concentrating his chakra towards his feet. Once happy with the amount he began climbing the tree. he got 3/4 of the way up before he slipped. Doing a flip he managed to land on his feet.
Doing the same process over and over until he got to the top took him another 10 minutes. Why can't i perform the jutsu. I can control my chakra quite well so what's wrong Garun though as he walked back over to the bag. Picking it up he put it in his pocket and began practicing the hand signs slowly and then began picking up speed till he was sure he knew them and could do them quickly. It must just be my concentraion Garun though as he opened the pouch and took some ash. Concentrating on his chakra he put the ash in his mouth and quickly did the hand signs. As he spat them out he saw the spark though with Mai making lightning with her jutsu it could of just been static though garun kept trying doing the process quicker and quicker each time

Daisuke watched both of them, impressed that Mai was doing so well now. Father and daughter shared a smile now, both feeling like they had just gotten over a huge milestone. He let out a releaved sigh, glad to see that the Chidori wouldnt end with him. Mai stuck to training, she was getting so close now. She wanted to test out her jutsu in the same way her father had. She charged the tree when she felt she was ready. Her hand was extended out in front of her, this was it. It had to be. She had spent all day working on it.
The older Uchiha looked back at Garun to make sure he was making some progress. But his attention quickly turned back to Mai when he heard a loud crash. Mai`s hand had gotten stuck in the tree, it made a small hole barely big enough for her hand. Daisuke, concerned but he saw that she was fine, just a little dazed. He chuckled as she pulled her hand out and landed on her back.
"Dad! Im so close!"She announced to the world, "i almost got it that time!"

Garun continued trying and trying to get the dust to light. Mayb I should put alittle less in Garun though so he put slightly less ash in his mouth and began the process. The process wasnt taking long anymore as he knew the hand signs completely now and he thought his chakra was correct too. So when he spat out the ash he saw a spark and knew it was there due to the fact Mai currently had her hand in a tree.
"yes" garun said happy he had finally got a spark. "Now all i need to do is get a bigger spark and then an explosion" Garun added to himself before trying again. The inside of his mouth tasted funny now but he didnt really care. This jutsu could help him in the chuunin exams as his opponents wouldnt expect an attack from his mouth. Garun was defiantly going to buy everyone ramen once he mastered this jutsu.

Mai lay sprawled out on the ground, laughing. She was so happy that she was so close to getting this jutsu down. She closed her eyes so she could rest for awhile. She took a deep breath, then let it out. Daisuke was proud, but turned back to his other strugling student.
"You know if you cant get it, you could always used a clone to ignite the ash for you."Suggested the Uchiha.

"I might though that would be a waste of chakra" garun said to Daisuke. "Im managing to get a spark at least so all i need to do is concentrate more fire chakra into and hopefully that will work" Garun said before continueing on with it. Concentrating on what he did for fire jutsu he tried to get that feeling when using the jutsu but it didnt work. He then tried adding the tiger hand sign on the end which is is most fire jutsus but that didnt work either.
Concentrating his chakra he began trying to do it. I will not take the easy route by using a clone Garun thought to himself. He kept trying and kept getting sparks and over time they began getting slightly bigger though he could tell he still had a while to go but for now he would keep trying to make the ash explode

Daisuke shrugged but didnt say anything at first, he went over to Mai and sat down next to her. He ruffled up her hair and smiled. Mai sat up then leapt to her feet, she felt drained but wanted to keep at it. Daisuke held out his hand to her.
"Help your old man up would ya kiddo?"
Mai grabbed his hand and pulled him up to his feet. He grinned and said thanks. Daisuke went back to watching Garun.
"Just try it once and see if it helps you balance out your chakra."His eyes glanced back when he heard the sound of the birds. She felt like she was just about there. She focused on her hand as hard as she could for awhile but she felt extremely tired and stopped.

"Ok" Garun said as he made a clone. The clone nodded at him to say it was ready before it got into postition Garun then began the process of the ash but for the first 3 trys the clones kept missing its mark when using a fire jutsu to light it.
"Come on concentrate will you" Garun said to himself. Looking at the clone to make sure he was ready Garun did the process again with the clone getting it this time with the fire. The ash made a little boom which lightneded garun's mood slightly until he realised something. "You meant to use you chakra to make it explode when you click your teeth" Garun said to the clone who smackhed its own forehead causing it to explode.
Waving his hand he cleared the smoke before he began trying the process on his own without the clone. The spark that kept appearing was getting bigger but he needed it to actually work.

Mai decided to check out what Garun was working on. She cracked her knuckles and headed over. She observed what he was doing, and thought of an alternitive way.
"You could use the fire ball jutsu to start the fire if you really had to."She told him, Daisuke put his arm around his daughter. He hadnt felt so close to her in such a long time.
