The day was a dark one in the Uchiha house hold. Nobody was in the compound, the remaining members were in one of the far corners in the cemetery. Most people thought that it was Mai who destroyed the sand village, few knew that the bombs were planted by the Akatsuki, so she did not get an honorable heroic spot near the front.
Placed on the small stone in the ground that was inscribed with her name was a small frmaed picture of Mai, who had a big smile on her face. There were very few people at the small funeral that day, so far only five people were there. Daisuke, Hiroshi, Toshiro, Henjin, and the mysterious Yuuto. Each of them wore all black clothing. Mai`s father was in tears, Hiroshi stood nearly motionless still trying to swallow the fact that she was gone. Henjin just stared at the ground, clenching his fists the whole time. Yuuto had a small toad seated on his shoulder, the ninja himself tightened up his orange headband as he watched the tears flow. Each of them held a small white rose. Hiroshi held onto the chakra knives Mai held so dearly to her heart.

Hojo was at the funeral as well, a little bit in the back holding a white rose. Unlike the others he hadn't been real close to Mai, but as her official sensei he had to feel guilty. It was part of his job to protect her and the rest of the squad, but he had failed. Now one of his students were dead. He was surprised that he hadn't been discharged for this incident. Since he wasn't, however, he was going to make sure it didn't happen again.
Akane, on the other hand, was not at the funeral. She still felt guilty about the entire incident and did not want to make it worse by being constantly reminded of it. For the moment she was staying at a room in a local inn, and refused to come to the funeral.

It didnt surprise Yuuto the slightest bit that Akane didnt show up. She probably would have been eaten alive by the angry and depressed people at the funeral. Yuuto turned the rose over and over in his hand several times, he looked up at Hiroshi when he felt his stare. Henjin couldnt stand it anymore, he tossed his rose to the ground and stormed away. Yasunari eventually showed up on behalf of the sand village, but his sister did not come with him. He stayed for a few minutes before placing his rose and leaving. Toshiro eventually did the same and left as well.

The small toad the had been pretty much stalking Akane sat outside of her door and croaked constantly, letting her know that he was there.

Hno and Garun had stayed to the back of the group keeping out of everyones way. They each held onto a white rose. Hino was silent as Garun's tear hit the floor. The two of them hadnt seen or known what happened. They only found out when they arrived in the leaf. The two had missed everything including their match. They had been taining together and a bad jutsu collision knocked the two clear out. They awoken to discover the damage to the sand village and made their way basck to the leaf village. Both healed up quickly just in time to attend the funeral. Hino didnt know what to say to Garun so instead tied his rose to a kuhnai and jumped high before throwing the kunai to land by Mai's gravestone. He then jumped away. Garun continued to cry as he watched the uchiha group ahead.

Yuuto turned when Garun and Hino were nearby. He didnt know the two, but the blonde one must have known Mai pretty well. He put the white rose he held in his pocket and approached Garun.
"You must have been a friend of Miss Uchiha?" Yuuto asked, "Well I am sorry for the loss of your friend, but I have to head out."
And with that Yuuto left.

Akane had noticed the toad a while go, but just thought it some random animal. By this point, however, she started to think it wasn't. It hadn't left her alone, and now it was croaking at her.
"Fine, I see you're there. What do you want with me. Don't you see I'm not in the mood to talk." She said with a sulk.

The toad blinked several times and crawled under the door then sat. It flopped its way over to her and sat at her feet. Then its eyes caught sight of a tiny fly, its discustingly long tongue shot out and snapped up the fly, both eyes rolled back when it swallowed it. The toad went back to staring at her, occasionally letting out a croak. Both of its eyes fell upon Mai`s old bloodied headband.
"Whatcha gunna do with that?"he asked her.

If the appearance of the toad wasn't enough, it's subsequent lunch was just as bad. However, almost nothing prepared her for hearing it talk. She jumped a little bit at the voice, but once she thought it through she had an idea of what was going on.
"All right, who sent you? I know you have to be some one's summon. And don't worry about that headband. It's none of your business."

The toads eyes narrowed when she spoke to him, how couldnt she not know who had summoned him? He had to wonder why she was so defensive, but then again her friend just died.
"Lord Yuuto sent me to make sure you made it home okay, he was the apprentice of the sixth hokage." the toad told her, "And besides, I was just curious. I was gunna ask if you were going to wear it, now that your a leaf village ninja. Which reminds me ... Your the Uchiha`s replacement on her old team."

Akane sighed as the toad spoke. She didn't want to have to deal with being reminded of her new position, but she knew if she didn't speak then this toad wasn't going to go away.
"No, probably not. It would be disrespectful. I'll get my own headband to use. By the way, tell Yuuto I can handle myself and he doesn't need to send a toad to spy on me."

The toad glared at her now, he wasnt spying on her, just making sure none of Mai`s friends came to kill her.
"Bahh, Yuuto said that you`d say that. He told me to tell you..." The toad grabbed the scroll from off his back, opened it up, and read it over, "Blah blah blah... Mai would want you to wear her headband as a way to honor her. There, and believe me the boss would know."

"You sure are a persistent little toad you know that. Next I suppose you want me to go to her funeral, right?" She replied as she stood up.
"Might as well. Besides, I need to give her this headband back since many ninja consider it a symbol of something like honor and whatnot. I really think it should stay with her."

The toad stared at her for a moment then scratched his head.
"Shes dead, why would she need it back?"scoffed the toad. "I really think that you should keep it, why would the leaf village give you a headband after you helped kill one of its ninjas?"

That last comment by the toad really set Akane off. Her face went red with anger as she started yelling.
"I did not kill her. Ishimaru was the one who did it. He set explosives, she stepped on them, and now she's gone. I tried to warn her, she didn't listen. Now just get out her before I cook a meal with your legs."
With that she grabbed Mai's headband and headed out of the room, locking it from the outside to stall the toad so she could just get away from him.

"Bah! Like you could, Im stronger than you could ever be!"he yelled back, but for the moment Akane had a moment of peace and quiet to herself. Yuuto stood outside, the toad leapt out and landed on the toad sages head. The man laughed when the toad disappeared in a puff of smoke. He knew she was comming out, so he decided to wait.
